Are you feeling down and defeated? Latch on to Scriptures for Strength

Updated: Jul 8

It's easy to believe our physical senses - especially what we see, hear, and touch. Our eyes believe what they see, and the thoughts that follow validate what we see. These thoughts in turn trigger emotions, which feel real and concrete and so solidifies the whole experience and gets filed under that emotion.

What are your eyes seeing that is causing you to believe that you are defeated and feeling down?

Do you know that the spiritual world is far more real than the physical world? When God created the earth, He said, "Let there be....", and all that He created came out of the words which He spoke, creating the natural from the spiritual. Nothing existed - and then it did.

Tree growing strong on steep slope with exposed roots
Image of tree growing on a steep slope that shows its roots .

This tree stands straight and tall in a path that many people use to hike in and out of a canyon. The roots are used as steps, besides hanging on to the wall of the canyon to keep itself upright.

The tree grows strong like the other trees around it and close to it, yet at the same time, it appears to be stronger because the exposed roots show the story of it's tenacity for life. It seems to have CHOSEN to live!

We might connect in a way to that tree and say something like - "I feel like that sometimes!" And we take pictures and make comments and now I'm sharing this with you! Who knew!

Our strength and courage can be drawn from Scriptures on strength. We can draw from the spiritual and pull it into our world where it becomes real to us. And we must choose to do so! We must apply it. Do it. Be it.

We are emotional creatures and rely on our emotions heavily every day. Sometimes we need to learn to not trust our emotions. Sometimes they lie. Emotions are not part of the five senses - they are triggered by our thoughts. They just FEEL REAL because we connect them to life situations or circumstances.

We are in control of our thoughts, and so then, we are in control of our emotions.

Once you get a good understanding of that, you will know that you don't have to stay down and defeated! What we focus on becomes real to us. What if you could change that?!

This is the reason I am offering you the opportunity to pull yourself up and out of feeling down and defeated. Allow me to give you some verses about strength to focus on.

Psalm 23:3 He restores my strength. He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation. NET

Psalm 29:11 The LORD gives his people strength; the LORD grants his people security. NET

Psalms 59:16 As for me, I will sing about your strength; I will praise your loyal love in the morning. For you are my refuge and my place of shelter when I face trouble.

17 You are my source of strength! I will sing praises to you! For God is my refuge, the God who loves me. NET

Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy. 31 But those who wait for the LORDS's help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles' wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired. NET

Isaiah 64:4 Since ancient times no one has heard or perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who intervenes for those who wait for him. NET

(Wait for Him! Let Him show you the next steps.)

We have a full Book of Promises to draw from. These are just a few.

How amazing that the Lord wants you to be strong and He gives us His Word to help us! You can have Scriptures for strength to help you every day! You can use them to focus on so that you don't allow yourself to focus on the things that pull you down.

So, Joshua 1:9 "I repeat, be strong and brave! Don't be afraid and don't panic, for I, the LORD your God, am with you in all you do." NET
